Year 1's Forest School:

We has been another exciting Term in Forest School despite the conditions being more like Winter at times! The weather has not stopped the fun for Reception, Year 1, Year 3 and  Year 6.

The Reception children have been busy learning in Forest School this term, they have been  learning new skills and have been leading their own learning with increased confidence and  independence. The children have learnt to use palm drills to make Rainbow Fish, made lean to shelters, dug for treasure and made pirate swords using square lashings. The children loved searching for The Three Bears that were kindly made and donated by Annie Edwards.

The Reception children particularly enjoyed an afternoon where the experiences were  led by Year 6. The Year 6 made games for them to play, entertained them with stories and puppet shows, made dens with them, got them following clues around the Forest School and involved them in different  Scavenger Hunts. The Year 6 children showed fantastic leadership skills and led the afternoon with confidence and creativity. All the staff that saw them in action were really impressed and the Reception children loved the experience.

Year 2's Forest School:

The Year 1 children have had a great time out in the Forest School this term. The Year 1 children learnt about different trees in our Forest and  how to whittle a cooking stick safely . They then learnt about fire safety and were able  to safely cook a marshmallow and make a s’mores which they thought were delicious. The children learnt how to make lean to shelters which we tested with a bucket of water! The Year 1’s also experienced using palm drills on wood cookies which some turned into necklaces. Year 1 grew in confidence through their experiences and really enjoyed time where they could lead their own learning, there were some budding engineers that built guttering water systems.

Year 4's Forest School:

The Year 3 children had an exciting time in their Forest School Sessions embracing all the opportunities that are available to them. The children have learnt to use a range of tools which have included Hapa Zome printing with natural materials , use Palm Drills to make jewellery with wood cookies and make elder beads by removing the pulp. They developed their knot tying skills making stick men using square lashings.

The Year 3 have developed their cooking skills on the open fire making pizzas and S’mores which they thought were tasty.

The Year 3 have worked well to cooperate and care for each other in the Forest School playing a number of games together and by building dens to shelter from the rain.
